What Happens When a PDR Domain Expires?
PDR Ltd. (d/b/a PublicDomainRegistry.com) is one of the largest ICANN-accredited domain registrars by volume. When a PDR domain expires, the expired inventory is sent to GoDaddy Auctions. PDR has one of the longer grace periods in the industry at 40 days, and the entire deletion process takes 75 days from expiration.

PDR Domain Grace Period
After a PDR domain expires, the registrant has a 40-day auto-renew grace period to renew the domain at the standard renewal price. During this time, the domain is parked and the website and email stop functioning. PDR has auto-renewal enabled by default — if there is a valid payment method on file, the domain will be auto-renewed.
Where Does PDR Auction Expired Domains?
PDR sends its expired domain inventory to GoDaddy Auctions. The domains follow the standard GoDaddy expired domain auction timeline — a 10-day auction followed by a 5-day closeout with declining prices.
PDR Domain Redemption Period
If the domain is not renewed during the grace period, it enters a 30-day redemption grace period (days 41–70). During this time, only the current registrar (PDR) can redeem the domain. Redeeming a domain during this period is costly and involves a manual process with an additional redemption fee on top of the renewal price.
