What Happens When a NameSilo Domain Expires?

NameSilo is known for its transparent, low-cost domain services. When a NameSilo domain expires, the registrant has 30 days to renew at the standard price. On day 31, the domain is removed from the account and listed for auction on NameSilo's marketplace for 10 days. If unsold, the domain returns to the account for restoration until day 64, after which it enters pending delete and drops around day 71.

NameSilo Domain Grace Period

NameSilo provides a 30-day renewal window after expiration. During this entire period, the registrant can renew or transfer the domain at the standard rate without any additional fees. The domain's DNS stops resolving, but the domain remains in the account.

NameSilo Expired Domain Auction

On day 31, NameSilo removes the domain from the registrant's account and lists it for auction. Key details:

NameSilo Restoration Period

If no bids are placed or all bids fail, the domain returns to the registrant's account on day 41 and enters the Restoration Period. During this time (until approximately day 64), the original registrant can recover the domain by paying a restoration fee on top of the standard renewal price.

When Does a NameSilo Domain Drop?

During the pending delete stage (days 65–69), the domain may appear on drop-catch auction platforms. Starting on day 71, the domain becomes available for anyone to register on a first-come, first-served basis.
