Hello!

Where is the domain registered?

Dynadot – Goes to Dynadot’s own internal auction site aprox. 30 days after domain expiration.  Domain auctions last 7 days and if a bid is placed in the last 5 minutes, the auction will be extended by 5 minutes.  Note you must have a $5.00 account balance or have purchased at least $5.00 in the last year to participate.

Name Silo

Domains at Name Silo that expire are sent to their own auction market.  Domains will appear here 5 days after the domain expires up until 31 days after the domain has expired and if there are bids, it will be awarded to the highest bidder.  If nobody bids on the domain, it can still be redeemed by the original registrant up until 64 days after it expired by paying a redemption fee.

3/26/25 Update via Email

To improve your auction experience, we’ve updated our auction end times and simplified our closeout process.

What this means for you
Auction end times

We are working to standardize auction end times to improve user experience and consistency. All auctions will end daily at 11 AM NYC (4:00 PM London, 5:00 PM Rome, 1:00 AM Tokyo, and so on).

We know our auction end times won’t suit everyone in the world, but we do have tools to help make sure you never miss out:

Proxy Bid: Set your highest bid in advance, and our system will bid for you.

Auctions API Access: Automate bidding and track auctions efficiently.

Closeout changes

We have also improved our closeout process to make it easier for our customers.

Now, if an auction ends with no bids, the auction will automatically extend for another 24 hours, and the minimum bid will start at the lower price of $5.

Please be aware that registry-listed .ai domains marked as “Partner” do not go to closeouts, and unsold .ai domains are not released for registration immediately.

Seem to go to auctions after 7 days after expiration. Expiration Date doesn’t count in that total – so if the expiration date is December 1st, it would be listed on December 9th.

Auctions are for 24 days

Current as of 12/7/24
